Positioning "private cloud" as "enterprise cloud computing" and thus implying that "public" cloud is somehow not "enterprise ready" is disingenuous at best.

Hi Sam

I'm just going by what all those big-time enterprises tell me day-in and day out. I meet them every day.

After all, we can have our opinions, but ultimately it's the people with checkbooks who decide.

And, as we speak, it's pretty unanimous -- for now!

Sam, Private clouds ARE enterprise solutions by virtue they are private.

Say, as an example, regulation forces you to have total control of your data, what does that mean? no ability to leverage the cost benefits of elasticity and efficiency delivered by high utilization and centralization? No, you set up a private cloud.

Public clouds are very much enterprise ready, but there are areas where the physical location of data becomes critical.

Then there is the simple aspect, if your enterprise's core business had some "secret sauce" would you distribute it outside your secured internal network? I for one, would not.

Both clouds have their place as do hybrid models. The more use case choices the better and very much like Chuck says, the checkbook will vote.

Marco
