Gloating's not nice...

Barry Whyte

Its not all bad... and just so as not to disappoint Chuck, found this :

http://www.ibm.com/press/us/en/pressrelease/22294.wss

Chuck Hollis

Nope, I missed that one.

And it's a tortured gem of a press release, so I recant the statement that there were none of these around this time.

Note the reference to "disk storage" rather than "external disk storage".

Chuck Hollis

OK, so gloating's not nice. I guess I should try to be more nice.

(Chuck tries to be nicer, fails miserably ...)

All jesting aside, I really believe that the shape and structure of the storage industry is changing, along the lines that I suggested.

There seems to be a definite squeeze play going on

Gloating is really not nice from the perspective of storage architects (like me) who read all these blogs, and have relationships with many large and small vendors.... In the end, it may be about bits and bytes, iron and light, but unbridled (and unsubstantiated) arrogance puts me on guard.

Chuck Hollis

Your feedback is duly noted.

I will try and restrain the perception of arrogance in these posts.

Thanks for writing!

Warning: do not buy him a drink when there is a piano nearby.
